Position Overview
The Human Resources Coordinator supports a range of HR functions within an agricultural operation, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, payroll support, and recordkeeping.
This role works with management and field supervisors to ensure workforce needs are met and employment practices comply with applicable labor laws and agricultural regulations.
Responsibilities include supporting both year-round and seasonal employees, with duties varying based on production cycles and workforce demands.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain employee records, including personnel files, I-9 documentation, and HR systems.
Coordinate recruitment, hiring, and onboarding for both permanent and seasonal employees.
Support administration of agricultural labor programs, including H-2A (if applicable).
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour regulations and agricultural labor requirements.
Assist with payroll processing by verifying timekeeping, piece-rate, or hourly wage data.
Administer employee benefits and respond to employee inquiries.
Support employee relations by documenting issues and assisting with resolutions.
Coordinate and track required trainings, certifications, and safety programs.
Maintain workers’ compensation records, manage claims, and coordinate with insurance carriers and medical providers.
Administer unemployment claims, including responding to notices, preparing documentation, and participating in hearings as needed.
Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up actions.
Assist with audits and reporting (e.g., I-9, EEO, L&I, OSHA).
Partner with field supervisors and operations staff to address workforce needs.
Support policy implementation and ensure consistent application across departments.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
2–5 years of HR experience, preferably in agriculture or a labor-intensive industry.
Knowledge of agricultural labor laws, including wage and hour, H-2A (if applicable), and safety regulations.
Experience managing workers’ compensation and unemployment claims (preferred).
Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Ability to travel between office and field locations as needed.
Work Environment
Office-based with regular interaction in agricultural or field environments.
May require extended hours during peak seasons (planting, harvest).
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
