Job Objective: The Assistant High School Principal supports the High School Principal in providing leadership, supervision, and management of the high school to promote student achievement, positive school culture and effective school operations. This role assists with instructional leadership, student services, staff supervision, and daily building management to ensure a safe, supportive and academically focused environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Acts according to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
- Available to work a non-traditional schedule and irregular hours when needed
- Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0) and Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (OSCES) credentialed
- Holds/maintains required Ohio State Board of Education credentials
- Maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment
Essential Responsibilities - Manages effective school operations. Provides for a clean, orderly, responsive, safe, and supportive learning environment. Helps plan and implement innovative programming.
- Assist with teacher supervision, evaluation, and professional growth in accordance with the district's evaluation framework.
- Address issues that arise during the principal's absence.
- Address student discipline concerns in alignment with district policies and restorative practices when appropriate.
- Monitor and support student attendance efforts, working with staff and families to address absenteeism and promote engagement.
- Monitors students who are struggling academically, behaviorally, and/or with other concerns.
- Work collaboratively with parents and guardians to support student success.
- Maintain open and positive communication with families regarding student progress and concerns.
- Work with counselors, intervention specialists, and support staff to meet students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Assist with daily building operations, including supervision schedules, student supervision, and event management.
- Coordinate safety procedures and support the implementation of building emergency plans.
- Assist with implementation of the building's MTSS framework, supporting staff in monitoring student progress and interventions.
- Support oversight of special education and Section 504 services, ensuring compliance and collaboration with staff and families.
- Help organize and oversee school activities, assemblies, testing, and special events.
- Assist with onboarding and mentoring of new staff members.
- Represent the school at meetings, activities, and community events as needed.
- Facilitates collaborative planning for staff meetings.
- Help manage mandated testing programs, maintain test security, and help analyze test results.
- Collaborates on the preparation and creation of the master schedule.
- Maintains effective document and records management systems. Prepares timely files.
- Monitors reporting deadlines. Complies with district records retention and disposal policies.
- Works with staff to develop standards-based curriculum and high-quality courses of study.
