Scheduler

Location: Oklahoma City, Ok

Description:

Responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting the integrated project schedule using Oracle Primavera P6. The Scheduler provides an independent Owner view of EPC Contractor schedule performance and supports the organization's projects team with timely, field-verified schedule information. This is a site-based role requiring regular field presence to validate actual progress, confirm sequence and logic, identify constraints, and assess schedule realism against current construction conditions.

The Scheduler takes direction from and supports the Project Manager and Construction Manager while coordinating closely with project controls, startup/commissioning, engineering, contractors, and plant operations. The Scheduler is expected to work primarily in Primavera P6; Microsoft Project or other scheduling platforms are not part of the role. The Scheduler supports overall project success while maintaining safety awareness during all site and field activities.

Essential Functions:

Daily-

  • Review and update the Owner schedule in Primavera P6 using field-verified progress and approved project information.
  • Maintain a routine site and field presence to observe construction status, validate actual starts and finishes, assess remaining duration, and confirm work sequencing.
  • Compare field conditions and contractor-reported progress to the current P6 schedule; identify discrepancies and document required corrections or follow-up.
  • Monitor critical and near-critical paths, key milestones, constraints, interfaces, work calendars, and schedule logic.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Manager, discipline coordinators, startup/commissioning, engineering, and contractor scheduling personnel to obtain accurate schedule status.
  • Identify emerging delays, out-of-sequence work, access limitations, material or engineering constraints, and other barriers to milestone achievement.
  • Maintain schedule notes, assumptions, progress narratives, and supporting documentation sufficient to explain schedule status and changes.
  • Participate in daily project coordination meetings and communicate schedule impacts requiring project-team attention.

Weekly-

  • Review the EPC Contractor’s Primavera P6 schedule update for completeness, logic integrity, progress accuracy, and compliance with contractual scheduling requirements.
  • Validate contractor-reported actual progress through field observations and coordination with project representatives.
  • Analyze critical path, near-critical activities, total and free float, milestone trends, schedule variance, and changes to forecast dates.
  • Assess schedule achievability, including sequencing, work density, resource assumptions, outage interfaces, commissioning dependencies, and adequacy of contingency or recovery plans.
  • Evaluate proposed schedule revisions, fragnet insertions, recovery schedules, and change-related time impacts; clearly identify unsupported logic or assumptions.
  • Prepare concise weekly schedule reports and look-ahead summaries for the Project Manager and Construction Manager.
  • Report barriers to success, required decisions, and recommended mitigation or recovery actions.
  • Maintain the Owner’s schedule records and controlled P6 files in the designated project document repository.

Meetings/Reports:

Daily-

  • Attend Project POD meetings (0800) and provide updates on schedule conditions affecting overall project execution.
  • Attend Contractor Project POD meetings and address schedule coordination, sequencing, constraints, and required follow-up.
  • Debrief with the Construction Manager and Project Manager on significant schedule changes or field conditions.
  • Update Primavera P6 status, schedule notes, and action items based on verified information.
  • Coordinate directly with field personnel to confirm progress and upcoming work.

Weekly-

  • Facilitate a schedule review with the Construction Manager and Project Manager.
  • Participate in the EPC Contractor’s weekly schedule update or progress review.
  • Prepare and issue a weekly schedule report identifying critical path, milestone forecast, key variances, constraints, recovery actions, and required decisions.
  • Provide P6-based look-ahead information to support construction, outage, startup, commissioning, and turnover planning.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must have direct experience scheduling EPC, power generation, or heavy industrial construction projects.
  • Must be proficient in Oracle Primavera P6, including schedule development, status updates, logic review, baselines, calendars, constraints, coding, filters, layouts, critical path analysis, float analysis, and schedule comparison.
  • Must be capable of independently reviewing contractor P6 files and identifying logic, progress, sequencing, and forecast concerns.
  • Must be willing and able to maintain a regular site and field presence; this is not a remote-only scheduling position.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction work packages, system turnover boundaries, and commissioning sequences sufficiently to validate schedule logic and progress.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of communicating schedule findings clearly with project staff, field personnel, and the EPC Contractor.
  • Capable of producing concise schedule narratives, meeting notes, milestone reports, look-aheads, and action-item status.
  • Working knowledge of earned value, progress measurement, change management, delay analysis, and schedule risk principles.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive for communication, reporting, and document control; all schedule creation and maintenance will be performed in Primavera P6.
  • Preferred: experience with simple-cycle or combined-cycle gas turbine projects, including construction, outage integration, startup, commissioning, and system turnover.
  • Preferred: experience with GE 7FA.05 / GE 7HA.03 / PES LM6000 projects.

Working Conditions:

  • Longer-term placement opportunity (potentially through 2029).
  • Position requires routine on-site and field presence at the project location.
  • Flexible schedule based on project needs.
  • 5-10s expected / as needed to support weekend, outage, or critical schedule activities.
  • Per diem available, if applicable under assignment terms.
  • Work includes both office/trailer-based P6 schedule activities and field verification in an active construction environment.

Special Safety Requirements:

  • Comply with all company and project-site safety, access, PPE, and field-observation requirements.
  • FR clothing required post-energization.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

Desired Work Experience:

  • Owner-side scheduling experience.
  • Power generation or heavy industrial EPC project experience.
  • Field-based construction scheduling experience.
  • Experience evaluating contractor schedule updates, recovery plans, and time-impact submissions
