We are a growing home infusion pharmacy dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through the safe preparation and delivery of sterile medications. We are seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician who takes pride in accuracy, teamwork, and delivering the highest quality pharmaceutical care.

Position Summary

The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacists in the preparation of sterile compounded medications in compliance with USP <797>, USP <800> (when applicable), state and federal regulations, and company policies. This position plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive safe, accurate, and timely therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sterile IV medications using aseptic technique.
  • Compound antibiotics, hydration, biologics, TPNs, chemotherapy (if applicable), and specialty infusion medications.
  • Maintain cleanroom and ante room according to USP standards.
  • Perform environmental cleaning and documentation.
  • Complete all required compounding logs and quality assurance documentation.
  • Label medications accurately and prepare products for dispensing.
  • Assist with inventory management and monitor medication expiration dates.
  • Receive and stock medications and sterile supplies.
  • Maintain proper storage conditions for medications and supplies.
  • Participate in routine equipment maintenance and certification processes.
  • Assist pharmacists with prescription preparation and workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, state Board of Pharmacy regulations, and company policies.
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, intake coordinators, and delivery staff to ensure excellent patient care.

QualificationsRequired

  • Current Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure (as required by state law)
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high accuracy

Preferred

  • Previous sterile compounding experience
  • Experience in a home infusion or hospital pharmacy
  • Familiarity with USP <797> and USP <800>
  • Knowledge of IV admixture techniques
  • Experience with pharmacy software systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity required for sterile compounding.
  • Ability to work in cleanroom attire for extended periods.
