What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at OAKS PHARMACY?
Oaks Pharmacy is locally owned and operated pharmacy. We are looking for some one who is a team player, and is self motivated to work in a fast paced pharmacy. We are looking to hire a pharmacy technician to be responsible for handling customer transactions and inventory at our pharmacy. You will be dispensing both prescription and over the counter medicine to customers. You will also be responsible for checking and evaluating written, electronic and faxed prescriptions, as well as recording and verifying patient information while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
In order to be a successful candidate, you must display excellent communication skills and an affinity for great customer service. You must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced work environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet customers and respond to questions and requests for information.
- Order and receive prescription drugs and supplies.
- Initiate refill requests.
- Ensure that product is rotated, within date, and properly displayed.
- Count and label prescription drugs and supplies.
- Generate third-party billing in print and electronic formats and reconcile weekly.
- Properly dispose of outdated, discontinued, and/or unsaleable merchandise.
- Keep records using computerized and hard copy systems.
- Reconcile insurance discrepancies.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Ensure that the above duties are completed in compliance with Oaks Pharmacy policy and all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Accepting written prescriptions or refill requests from patients and evaluating information for completeness and accuracy.
- Recording medical histories while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Delivering quality customer service to patients, responding to inquiries, questions, or requests, and referring them to the pharmacist for medical information.
- Verifying the accuracy of patient information.
- Counting prescription medication, filling prescriptions, and typing and attaching medication labels.
- Performing inventory audits and purchasing supplies and medication.
- Process patient insurance.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age.
- Satisfaction of requirements for an active pharmacy technician registration or license, as required by the pharmacy board in the State of Florida.
- Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service.
- Ability to read and do simple math problems.
- Ability to enter data in a computer accurately.
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to use a computer for day-to-day tasks.
Preferred Qualifications

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No nights
- Weekends as needed

- Pharmacy technician experience: 1 year (Preferred)
