We have a search for a Head of AI for our large alternative investment firm. They have begun with a small team who has built proprietary LLM’s and Bot’s are already used by 80% of the firm. The success has created an appetite for more. The spirit around this function is to scaling AI technologies across all business groups mainly to create alpha and secondarily, to drive efficiency.

As Head of AI, you will lead the enterprise-wide strategy, across every aspect of the business, from Portfolio Management to Investor Relations. Your mandate is to scale AI solutions across business groups, putting people in place to understand the business needs and then execute them with the latest tools. This includes building scalable AI infrastructure, fostering cross-functional collaboration. You will report to the CTO and oversee and build a team of AI specialists, data scientists, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with the organization’s business objectives, prioritizing high-impact use cases for scaling across all business units.

• Lead the scaling of AI technologies enterprise-wide, including designing MLOps pipelines, real-time inference systems, and integration with existing workflows.

• Collaborate with C-suite, business group leaders, and portfolio managers to identify AI opportunities, break down silos, and drive adoption.

• Oversee AI infrastructure and operations, including vendor partnerships, budget management, and performance metrics to achieve efficiency gains like reducing operational costs or improving decision accuracy.

• Champion innovation by piloting and scaling advanced AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, agentic systems).

• Represent the organization as an AI thought leader, building external partnerships and navigating industry-specific challenges in finance or multi-unit operations.

Qualifications and Skills

• Software Engineering leadership experience with an new focus on in AI/ML, with a proven track record of scaling AI initiatives.(

• Deep technical expertise in AI technologies, including machine learning, LLMs, MLOps.

• Advanced degree (MS/PhD preferred) in Computer Science, AI, or a related field; executive presence for C-suite and board interactions.

• Excellent communication and change management skills to foster an AI-literate culture across business groups.
