Job Summary
The Assistant Principal serves as a key instructional and operational leader, supporting the Principal in the overall administration of the school and the success of all students. Responsibilities include participation on site and district leadership teams; development and management of the master schedule and bell schedules; supervision of campus safety and student behavior; oversight of attendance systems including interventions and SARB; and implementation of the Parent, Student, and Faculty Handbooks. The Assistant Principal conducts teacher and classified staff observations and evaluations, supports professional development and new teacher induction, and fosters a collaborative, student-centered school culture. The role includes coordination and approval of school events and activities such as assemblies, co-curricular clubs, performing arts programs, Outdoor Education, Camp Medea, and community events, as well as involvement in programs such as GATE and Challenge Success. The Assistant Principal supports student services including IEP participation, discipline systems (with a focus on assigned grade levels), and works closely with families, PFA, and community partners. Additional responsibilities include emergency preparedness planning, school tours, student leadership initiatives, and oversight of campus programs such as homework club and yearbook. The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive leader committed to equity, strong communication, high-quality instruction, and creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging middle school environment for all students.
