Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, passionate Lead Teacher to guide a multi-age Montessori classroom. The Lead Teacher is the primary classroom guide, responsible for delivering an individualized, child-centered Montessori experience and fostering each student's academic and social-emotional development. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deliver, and assess individualized Montessori lessons aligned with the three-year curriculum cycle
- Observe, document, and track each child's developmental progress
- Maintain a prepared, organized, and inviting Montessori environment
- Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain ongoing family communication
- Collaborate with assistant teachers and specialist staff
- Participate in school events, professional development, and staff meetings
- Contribute to the outdoor and nature curriculum
Qualifications
- AMI or AMS Montessori certification (required); level appropriate to classroom
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of lead classroom experience in a Montessori setting
- Strong understanding of child development and Montessori philosophy
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- MA educator licensure or willingness to obtain preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
