Title: Preschool Parent Liaison - Part-time

Direct Supervisor
Building Principal / Director may receive assignments from designated personnel as required.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, physical demands, and working conditions required of this position.
Hours/Day: Part-time; schedule determined by program needs
Months/Year: As assigned within the school year
$17.20 per hour
Evaluation
Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Building Principal / Director or designee in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Job Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; experience working with families in early childhood, education, social services, or a related setting; strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; cultural and linguistic competency aligned to the community.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual/bi-literate; knowledge of community resources; experience facilitating workshops or small groups; familiarity with school routines and early childhood practices.

- Family Engagement & Communication
- Serve as the main point of contact between preschool families and the school, ensuring clear, timely, two-way communication among home, classroom, and school.
- Welcome and orient families to preschool routines, expectations, and school culture; keep parents “in the loop” with regular updates and reminders.
- Build trust and positive relationships with families and staff to promote a warm, inclusive environment where every family feels respected and supported.
- Arrange interpretation/translation so all families can fully participate; communicate in families’ home language when possible.
- Parent Involvement & Education
- Encourage parent participation in classroom activities, school events, and home learning aligned to classroom goals.
- Organize and facilitate family workshops, parenting sessions, and activities that show practical ways to support preschoolers’ growth and learning at home and at school.
- Help parents understand what children are learning, share simple strategies for monitoring progress, and encourage collaboration with teachers.
- Resource Navigation & Problem-Solving
- Connect families to resources (early childhood services, community programs, health/mental health supports, and other assistance).
- Work with parents to remove barriers affecting a child’s success (academic, behavioral, social), coordinating with school staff and community partners as appropriate.
- Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate notes and records of family contacts, meetings, referrals, and follow-up while safeguarding confidentiality.
- Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to support student needs and reinforce consistent home–school strategies.
- Collaborate with instructional coach and attend school events as assigned; provide feedback on trends, needs, and opportunities to strengthen family engagement.
- Professional Responsibilities
- Communicate and collaborate professionally with colleagues, students, families, and community partners.
- Maintain and improve professional competence; complete required training.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee in accordance with Board policy.
- Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods and travel locally for family outreach as needed.
- Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
