The Parent Liaison II plays a vital role in strengthening family-school partnerships by engaging parents, supporting their needs, and fostering a welcoming, inclusive school community that promotes student success.
Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Develop and implement a comprehensive parent involvement plan focused on education, support, and engagement.
- Maintain regular communication with parents through phone calls, newsletters, flyers, and meetings.
- Collaborate with the Resource Coordinator in developing at least three hours of parent program per week.
- Recruit parents to participate in school activities and volunteer opportunities.
- Works with the Resource Coordinator, Parents, Teachers and Administration School Staff to identify parent needs and plan parent activities.
- Provides resources and referrals to parents as needed.
- Oversees the volunteer training program and identifies volunteer opportunities in the School and Afterschool Program for parents that are interested.
- Advocates on the behalf of parents with the faculty and administration.
- Assists in conflict resolution and positive discipline in the classroom.
- Builds relationships with students and families in the program.
- Arranges for parent training and in-services.
- Assists Resource Coordinator in daily program activities and in the classroom as needed during the school year.
- Attends Parent Program and School meetings as needed.
- Ensures that program fulfills our mission and is in line with the Principles of Family Support.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience working with families, parents, or community engagement programs in a school or nonprofit setting.
- Must be committed to the continuous improvement of service quality and the organization’s mission.
- Proven ability to build trusting relationships with diverse families and communities.
- Experience planning and facilitating parent workshops, meetings, or community events.
- Familiarity with family support principles and trauma-informed practices.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and creating outreach materials.
- Must be available evenings and some Saturdays.
- Must have access to reliable and efficient transportation that will allow for the completion of caseload responsibility.
- Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred).
