About the position:
The Special Education Teacher in Training at Oak Hill assists in developing, implementing, monitoring and supervising students' educational programming. This individual develops functional academic, vocational, social and students ADL skills coupled with managing all aspects of the classroom including supervision as a means of enhancing student independence and quality of life in keeping with Oak Hill mission.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or closely related field, working towards a Special Education Master's degree and Special Education certification.
- Skill Training/Experience: Some teaching experience and/or closely related field experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in developing, implementing and monitoring instructional programs for all goals and objectives for each student's IEP as well as other aspects of students' programs.
- Becomes familiar with information about students to ensure that programs which are developed and implemented meet students' needs to provide consistency in program implementation.
- Helps to develop IEPs for each student by assisting the Director and Curriculum Specialists in formal and informal assessments of students' needs, including ecological inventory and vocational assessments.
- Assists in directing activities and training of all classroom team members and addresses issues of concern regarding staff to promote students' educational programming, communication, understanding, and continued provision of highest level of services.
- Attends and participates in trans-disciplinary and progress report meetings to facilitate the exchange of information and evaluation of students to determine the need for modification of programs; maintains and updates student notebooks.
- Assists in setting up and organizing the classroom environment to facilitate students' educational programs.
