Job description:

Overview:
The Executive Director of the Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce is responsible for the overall management, operations, and representation of the Chamber. The role includes coordinating community events, managing financial activities, promoting the Chamber and its members, and liaising with local businesses and government bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meeting Management: Prepare and distribute meeting minutes within 24-48 hours after meetings. Prepare all meeting materials, including financials, agendas, and minutes, for Executive Board and Board of Directors meetings. Schedule meeting times and locations, conduct meetings as per the agenda, and attend all Board of Directors and Executive Board meetings.
  • Member Relations: Maintain and grow Chamber membership by conducting regular communication and visits to members and prospective members. Manage membership records, including prospect lists, solicitation activities, and delinquent membership follow-up.
  • Community Engagement: Maintain a visible presence in the community, representing the Chamber in public forums, local government meetings, and service organizations. Act as the liaison between the Chamber and local businesses, providing guidance on developments affecting the business community.
  • Public Relations and Marketing: Develop, oversee, and approve all printed marketing materials, including brochures, mailings, advertisements, and press releases. Manage the Chamber’s website and act as the Chamber's contact person for all media outlets.
  • Event Coordination: Organize and facilitate Chamber events, programs, and activities, ensuring they align with the Chamber's objectives. Work with other area Chambers of Commerce on joint ventures, events, and marketing initiatives.
  • Fundraising: Coordinate and facilitate fundraising activities as planned and approved by the Board.
  • Fiscal Administration: Manage all aspects of fiscal administration, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense approvals, and checking account maintenance. Ensure adherence to internal fiscal controls and maintain the Chamber's Non-Profit status.
  • Policy Implementation: Implement and comply with all Chamber policies. Seek out and attend approved training and networking opportunities to enhance the Chamber’s operations.
  • Board Support: Assist the Board in recruiting and developing new Board members and selecting members for committee assignments. Provide support to committee members as needed.
  • Advocacy and Representation: Offer guidance on relevant local, state, or federal legislation that may impact local businesses. Attend Oak Harbor Development Group and Village Council meetings as necessary to represent the Chamber's interests.
  • Budget Management: Participate in the development of the Chamber’s annual budget and ensure operations remain within the allocated budget throughout the year.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in management, preferably in a non-profit or community-based organization.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in financial management, including budgeting and fiscal controls.
  • Demonstrated success in membership development and retention.
  • Strong community relations skills and a visible community presence.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
