Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic part-time floater to join our pre-K to eighth grade private school team. In this versatile role, you will provide classroom support, both by working with children under a teacher's direction, helping to grade work against the provided answer sheets and assisting staff in general. Tasks and specific classrooms needing assistance will vary, but will provide the successful candidate a good view into work at a school.
Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with developmental milestones and curriculum standards.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals and transitions to ensure safety and engagement.
- Support individualized learning needs by adapting activities for children under the teacher's guidance.
- Maintain a clean, organized school environment that promotes safety, hygiene, and accessibility, including light and regular cleaning.
- Communicate effectively with parents when necessary.
- Follow all mandated reporting laws and health protocols, including pediatric first aid and CPR procedures, to ensure child safety at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to create an inclusive and positive classroom community that encourages curiosity and growth.
- Any and all small tasks that call for extra support.
Skills
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or educational settings.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and effective child supervision techniques.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, including pediatric first aid training is a plus.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills for parent interactions and team collaboration.
- Classroom management skills to maintain a structured yet flexible learning environment.
- Attention to detail when completing tasks such as grading, filing and organizing.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom settings as a floater teacher while maintaining professionalism and enthusiasm.
