Job Summary
The Floating Teacher provides support throughout the school by assisting in multiple classrooms as needed. This role helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while ensuring classrooms remain in compliance with state licensing regulations and school policies. The Floating Teacher must be flexible, dependable, and able to adapt quickly to the needs of children and staff of various age groups.
Responsibilities
- Provide classroom coverage during teacher breaks, planning time, meetings, and staff absences.
- Assist lead and assistant teachers with daily classroom routines and activities.
- Maintain active supervision of children at all times while ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through positive interactions.
- Help prepare and supervise educational activities, outdoor play, meals, and nap time.
- Follow all state licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and school policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom environment.
- Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other personal care routines as needed.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
- Complete classroom cleaning tasks and daily responsibilities as assigned.
- Communicate professionally with teachers and management regarding classroom needs.
- Step into any classroom (Infants through School Age) as needed while maintaining consistency in routines and expectations.
- Support meal service following CACFP guidelines and proper sanitation procedures.
- Assist with transitions throughout the day to ensure smooth classroom operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous childcare experience preferred.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must meet all Texas Child Care Licensing requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain active throughout the workday.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Flexible, dependable, and able to adapt to changing daily assignments.
