Essential Functions for the Position:
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Facilities and Plant Maintenance and/or lead tradesperson, designs, fabricates, installs, safely maintains and repairs a variety of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment and appurtenant fixtures; performs skilled work in the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of operational equipment, machinery, pumps, lifts, etc.; and performs other facility‑related trades duties as required.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
- Must be knowledgeable and current on safety requirements pertaining to facility maintenance as required by City, State and Federal governing agencies.
- Must be familiar with current overhaul and test procedures for electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic components as applicable to facility support machinery.
- Must be able to follow daily work schedules and record accurate information as it relates to repairs and maintenance activities.
- Must be able to use and maintain testing equipment and read/interpret plans and schematic diagrams.
- Strong welding background preferred.
Education, Training & Experience:
- Must have a minimum of four (4) years' practical working experience at the journeyman level with experience in repair and installation of facility systems, support equipment, machinery, plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Must be high school or trade school graduate.
Other Job Requirement & Conditions:
- Must possess knowledge of applicable tools and instruments and maintain an adequate assortment of personal hand tools specific to the trade.
- Must have valid Hawaii State driver's license with clean traffic abstract, and must be able to pass State of Hawaii D.O.T. driving requirements for a "Type B" commercial driver's license.
- Must pass Company‑administered written and oral examinations.
- Must be able to meet standard physical requirements and pass Company‑sponsored medical examination and drug screening.
- Must be physically fit to work at high places within a safety cage or man‑lift to perform repair work on parking lot light poles (approximately 50‑60 feet tall).
- Must have excellent work performance and attendance records.
- Must be willing and able to work various shifts, overtime as directed, holiday duty as needed, and assume days‑off as assigned.
