Job Summary:
This position will serve as on-site crewmember in support of CONUS and OCONUS UAS flight operations. Duties will include those of an Air Vehicle Operator/Sensor Operator (AVO/SO) or Maintenance Crew Chief driven by customer requirements. Participate in daily flight operations, site surveys/stand-ups, and interface with customers. Additional duties will include emplacement, displacement, inspection, and repair of associated equipment as well as proper notation of logbooks and flight records. This position is expected to perform as a Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of UAS operations. Primary duties will require extensive travel, both domestically and internationally including deployments, test events and training exercises.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- ULTRA Operational Test and Evaluation Support
- AVO/SO’s and CCs for sustained operations in remote split site operational setup
- Rotational OCONUS-based Flight Operations Support
- Travel in support of UAS Operations
- Directly interface with customer
- Work in groups or independently with minimal or no supervision
- Will be required to work odd shifts, weekends, and/or extended hours
- Responsible for data management and generation
- Provide general logistics functions
- Maintain site support equipment
- Troubleshoot technical problems and issues and determine technical solutions
- Practice ISO 9001 principles and concepts
Requirements:
- Candidate must complete a U.S.-based three to five (3-5) week training program depending on crew position and platform experience.
- Priority will be given to prior LEA / LEAP / ULTRA qualified pilots
- Civilian FAA commercial pilot with instrument rating
- Absent a Commercial pilot certificate with instrument rating, AVO’s operating on DZYNE programs must have been prior qualified while a member of the U.S. military as a DoW Group 3/4/5 UAS pilot with a minimum of 500 hours in category. \
- AVO’s operating on DZYNE contracts will be required to operate the FMB sensor, and other payloads that may be introduced during the program
- Prior FMV sensor and payload operator experience is preferred
- AVO’s must meet the requirements of the DCMA 8210.1D and receive a DD Form 2627 prior to starting training
- Candidate must be able to perform the duties of a UAS Crewmember safely and effectively without supervision. Duties including flight and ground operations, as well as logbook entry and records keeping.
- Candidate must have the ability to coordinate flight schedules and airspace, allocate resources, frequency deconfliction and execute other day-to-day aspects of flight operations.
- Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing.
- Candidate must possess strong leadership skills.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
- Candidate must possess a Current or ability to obtain an FAA Class II Medical Certificate
- Successful completion of the UAS Training Course is a condition of continued employment on this program.
Preferred Skills and Education:
- Prior Piccolo Autopilot and PCC experience
- Prior qualification as LEAP/ULTRA UAS Operator or Maintainer
- Qualified and current on the LEAP/ULTRA UAS or other Piccolo based autopilot UAS
- Deployments in support of UAS flight operations
- 2 Year Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Prior military service
- Familiarity with customer and expectations, policies, best practices, and high customer satisfaction orientation
- Leadership/management experience
