Job purposeUnder direction of the Director of Quality, the Supplier Quality Engineer plans and executes activities related to supplier evaluation, development, maintenance, and process improvement to drive quality excellence throughout the supply chain.Duties and responsibilities Maintain and improve the Supplier Quality ManualGuide RII personal in daily priorities and troubleshootingAnalyze and monitor suppler quality escapesParticipate on critical supplier reviewsPeriodic preparation and presentation of supplier quality metricsMonitor annual surveys and certificate expiration reportsExamine products to verify conformance with quality standards. Perform testing to ensure product meets or exceeds quality standards using a variety of precision measuring instruments, including electronic devices. Check color, finish, dimensions, hardness, density or other measurable or observable characteristics of material.Prepare and analyze cause and corrective action reports. Monitor incoming inspection results and prepare M.R.B. data and disposition for incoming product. Enter M.R.B. results into computer for vendor analysis program.Maintain Material Review Area ensuring all products are distributed in a timely manner. Perform Quality System, Process and Product audits on suppliers.Maintain all relevant records, electronically and hard copy if required. May recommend, write, or modify sampling and inspection procedures. Work with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plansOversee Receiving Inspectors to ensure efficient work flow thru the departmentPrepare and submit supplier scorecardsPrepare and maintain supplier risk rating systemPrepare Operations review of Supplier Quality KPI’s, action plans and audit plansPerform other duties as required.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with knowledge in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and industry QMS standards requiredAt least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity or equivalent in metals manufacturingWorking conditionsOffice environment within a manufacturing facility.Physical requirementsMust be able to move, lift, transport items at minimum of 20 lbs.Must be able to consistently operate a computer/office productivity machinery i.e., calculator, copy machine, printer for a minimum of 6 hours per day.Must be able to remain stationary for a minimum of 2 hours per day.Must be able to detect and correct errors on paper/screens.Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.Must be able to move throughout the facility and office area to access file cabinets, office equipment, plant machinery, and other office areas as needed.OtherManagement reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions, it does not proscribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.This job description is subject to change at any time.Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
