We are searching for an exceptional, multi-talented professional to fill a hybrid role as a Journeyman Automotive Technician and Service Writer. If you possess deep mechanical expertise, enjoy customer service, and hold active Pennsylvania inspection licenses, we want you on our team. Job Overview In this dual-role capacity, you will serve as the technical backbone of our front counter and shop workflow. You will leverage your journeyman-level experience to accurately evaluate vehicles and write transparent repair estimates, while stepping into the shop to perform critical diagnostics and PA Safety and Emission inspections. This position is ideal for a veteran tech looking to transition away from full-time heavy lifting while utilizing their valuable licensing and diagnostic mastery.Key Responsibilities
- PA State Inspections: Perform official Pennsylvania Safety and Emission inspections in strict compliance with state regulations and documentation requirements.
- Service Advising & Estimates: Greet customers, listen to vehicle symptoms, and accurately translate complex technical diagnostics into clear, upfront repair options.
- Sales & Workflow Management: Build accurate parts and labor estimates, order parts, and schedule appointments to maintain steady shop flow.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Assist our team of technicians with complex diagnostic challenges, wiring issues, and drivability problems as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensing: Must possess a valid, active PA Safety Inspection License and PA Emission Inspection License.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Journeyman Automotive Technician. Previous service writing or service advisor experience is highly preferred.
- Communication: Outstanding customer service and active listening skills with the ability to build immediate trust with patrons.
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with modern shop management software and digital inspection systems.
- Requirements: Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with a clean driving record.
