Duties Description

Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3- SG 23 within Dedicated Support for New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Information Technology Specialist 2 (NS- Hourly) will act as a technical lead and will work with others in the unit to provide ongoing maintenance and support of OPWDD internet and intranet applications.

• Perform coding, testing and debugging activities in accordance with design specifications, agency standards and test plans
• Perform software maintenance activities, including remediation, software upgrades and enhancement
• Participate and assist in the development of high-level conceptual design as well as detailed design specifications for new application systems or enhancements to existing applications.
• Prepare ad hoc reports in response to user needs
• Diagnose and troubleshoot application software problems as they occur to minimize application downtime.
• Create and maintain user and system documentation
• Provide application support and maintenance on OPWDD's applications using SQL Server, MS Access/VBA, Java, Power Apps
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Open Competitive: A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.

OR A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology;

OR 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.

OR Two years of professional experience in information technology.

Promotion: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, Salary Grade (SG) 14.

Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

• Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
