Duties Description
Under the general direction of a Public Information Specialist 2 Digital Content, this position will be part of the OPWDD Communications Team and the ideal candidate:
Minimum Qualifications
Non-competitive:
Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.
Additional Comments
° Thirteen (13) days of paid vacation leave initially.
° Five (5) days paid personal leave each year.
° Thirteen (13) days of paid sick leave each year (PEF/CSEA), which may carry over from year to year.
° Up to three (3) days professional leave each year to participate in professional development events.
Under the general direction of a Public Information Specialist 2 Digital Content, this position will be part of the OPWDD Communications Team and the ideal candidate:
- Understands how to make documents accessible and has experience using accessibility software.
- Has an understanding of Plain Language content and an ability to take complex information and simplify it.
- Has a good understanding of content management software such as Drupal and Sharepoint or very technology savvy and a quick learner.
- Update content on the OPWDD website.
- Update content on the OPWDD Intranet.
- Create content for OPWDD social media platforms, helping bring awareness to OPWDD services, initiatives, programs, jobs and more.
- Create video and graphic content for social media and the OPWDD website.
- Ensure content on the website is accessible.
- Work with the Digital Information Team and other colleagues on identifying, planning, and executing effective content and strategies that accomplish overall communication goals.
- Track the performance of digital content including social media, email, and website.
- Manage comments and messages received on social media platforms.
- Assist in developing OPWDD messages on GovDelivery.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

Additional Comments
- The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
