The starting salary for a Landscape Architect Trainee position is $66,951.
The starting salary for an Assistant Landscape Architect is $81,193. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $74,193 with an additional geographic pay differential of $7,000, specific to this title and location.
The maximum compensation for this position is $101,121. This amount is comprised of the standard job rate of $94,121 with an additional geographic pay differential of $7,000, specific to this title and location.
In addition, a Mid-Hudson Adjustment of $2,000 or a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000 may also apply depending on the location of the position.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for the landscape, roadway, wetland mitigation, grading, drainage, sidewalk, bike path, stormwater quality, and quantity management portions of highway and bridge projects
- Utilize Microstation, InRoads, HydroCADD, ProjectWise, and other software packages to perform project work
- Coordinate the landscape and site work with architectural and engineering work in the planning, design, and construction phases
- Develop presentation materials and renderings (project visualizations) for public outreach
- Participate in the preparation of Design Reports, design guidance and other written documents
- Review projects for environmental impacts and prepare associated documents to support environmental process determinations
- Perform occasional GPS data collection for wetland delineations
- Handle special assigned duties such as correspondence, interviews and investigations

- A bachelor’s or higher-level degree in landscape architecture; and proof of passing any two sections of the Landscape Architect Registration Exam (LARE);
- A Landscape Architect's License from any state or political subdivision of the United States.
