What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch - Coy Mine (East Tennessee Mines) position at Nyrstar East Tennessee Mines?
THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to work closely with and support the shift foreman in the day-to-day planning of resources, (equipment and manning) through gathering data, allocating resources, interpreting data, providing reports and liaising with all departments, maintenance, engineering and safety that impact/contribute to our daily production targets.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Demonstrate safe behavior by wearing proper PPE at all times, reporting of all SHEC incidents and comply with the site’s goals, standards and procedures in SHEC.
- Interprets real-time shift information, heading status and equipment status (considering the weekly production plan and daily lineout) relays information to the shift supervisor and updates planning boards as required.
- Ability to communicate with key stakeholders, maintenance workshop, engineering, geology and survey, safety department and stores.
- Understand and manage administrative duties and processes of external contractors who, from time to time may be contracted to work with Nyrstar teams.
- Collects information from equipment operators going in and out of working areas, main sources of delays, main causes of standby time, all issues that may impact the shift plan and oncoming crew.
- Collects key production information from all production equipment, holes drilled, bolts installed, dippers, truck loads, ore/waste, downtime, reason for downtime etc.
- Ability to interpret daily data/trends and provide daily reports to senior mine staff.
- Able to enter information into spreadsheets and applications and interpret this data.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions using live shift information that will enhance shift productivity.
- Solid understanding of both the mining cycle (bolt, bore, muck) and the production cycle (load, haul, rail, crusher and skips).
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years’ experience in underground mining required, supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in mine specific equipment and the mining cycle, bore, bolt, muck.
- Demonstrated competence in computer software applications.
- Preferred knowledge of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities.
- Understanding of technical and operating processes relevant to mine planning and scheduling.
- Excellent communication skills.
