Detention Deputy Sheriff – Pahrump
Nye County Sheriff’s Office is hiring for Detention Deputy in the Nye County Detention Center in Pahrump.
Academy training will be conducted by the Nye County Sheriff’s Office in Pahrump.

Compensation
Annual salary range is $47,590 - $73,278

Physical fitness testing information and preparation can be found at http://post.nv.gov/Training/POST_Academy/Physical_Fitness/. The minimum standards are:
o Vertical Jump: 15 inches
o Illinois Agility Run: 20.4 Seconds
o Push Ups: 20 (no time limit)
o 300 Meter Run: 74 seconds
o 1.5 Mile run: 17:37 minutes
All applicants are subject to a stringent background investigation.
Qualifications
Application Requirements: • Graduation from a high school or G.E.D. • 21 years of age at time of appointment. • No felony or gross misdemeanor convictions. • No domestic violence convictions. • Resident of the State of Nevada at time of appointment. Testing: • Written test – minimum score 70% to pass • Oral Examination – minimum combined score of 70% to pass • Thorough background investigation • Drug / Narcotics screen through a designated facility • Computer Voice Stress Analyzer • Psychological examination • No tattoos on the hands, neck, face, or head are permitted.

Special Requirements
Applicants must live within a 50-mile radius of the Pahrump substation.
Physical Effort: • The physical and mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. • Demanding physical environment—requires lifting and subduing citizens, running, and handling of law enforcement weaponry. • Detention facility setting—subject to physically escorting prisoners and visitors, physically subduing prisoners and searching cells. o Law enforcement detention facility environment—subject to assault, injury and disease from prisoners.
