Position Summary
The Global Logistics Specialist serves as the primary expert in international and domestic freight and logistics operations across all company locations worldwide. This role ensures the efficient and compliant movement of machines and parts globally while meeting customer-specific requirements. The position emphasizes accuracy in documentation and adherence to regulatory standards, delivering professional and timely logistics support.
Key Responsibilities
Functional & Technical Skills
- Oversee accurate and timely delivery of goods and related documentation, ensuring precision and attention to detail.
- Act as the main point of contact between internal teams and external logistics partners, including quoting, arranging transportation, and communicating shipping protocols.
- Track, monitor, and report shipment status for all equipment and customer orders.
- Maintain on-time delivery throughout the logistics process.
- Select and manage appropriate shipping methods (FCL, LCL, FTL, LTL, air, rail, ocean, intermodal) to balance cost and service.
- Provide support for urgent weekend orders when required.
Compliance
- Ensure all international shipments comply with applicable regulations and company standards.
- Manage submission of NAFTA documentation and certificates of origin.
- Coordinate smooth border crossings for equipment and spare parts between Canada and Mexico.
- Contribute to creating and updating internal and external logistics procedure documents.
- Maintain accurate records of international trade documentation.
- Review and approve freight invoices within third-party systems.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, or a related discipline.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in logistics, trade compliance, supply chain, or similar fields.
- At least 2 years in international logistics and distribution, including customs, freight forwarding, and import/export processes.
- Combination of education and experience totaling 7 years in logistics, distribution, and trade compliance.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, FDA requirements, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and product classification (HTS and ECCN).
- Familiarity with NAFTA and other global trade programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (IFS experience preferred).
- Strong communication skills for tracking and resolving shipment issues.
- Ability to prepare legal shipping documents for domestic and international transactions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Customs Broker License.
- Expertise in tariff classification.
- International experience in markets such as Brazil, India, and China.
- Background in railroad transit and logistics.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based work involving computer and phone use.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
- Travel of 10% or more, including international trips.
- Ability to adapt to variable and challenging conditions during equipment inspections in rail environments.
