What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-House Counsel position at NYCM SEARCH?
Top NYC CM firm seeks in-house counsel / general counsel.
In order to supplement the use of multiple external legal partnerships, to quarterback resource allocation, and to add value and expertise in a number of departments including:
- Construction Agreements: Draft and negotiate CM agreements, subcontracts, consultant agreements, and change orders, focusing on indemnity, safety, scheduling, and payment protections.
- Litigation & Claims Oversight: Manage outside counsel on any number of construction related matters.
- Insurance Programs / Risk Management: Manage outside counsel in construction accident and injury litigation; coordinate defense strategy, discovery, and settlements.
- Real Estate: Review and negotiate office leases; address landlord/tenant issues; oversee lease compliance and renewals.
- Employment & HR: Create employment agreements, handbooks, and compliance policies; advise on wage/hour, terminations, and potential claims.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance alongside Corporate Safety Director
- Finance Support: Work with Operations to review lending arrangements and any other vendor / technology contracts
You will bring a minimum 5 years of experience in Construction Management / General Contracting related legal work. You will bring a background that is not purely litigation or mediation, but instead related to the categories above.
Salary target 200-250k, benefits, pto, bonus potential and growth potential.
This role will be the sole in-house counsel role for our client utilizing external resources for support.
This role does not allow for hybrid work schedules / remote work. We are not at this time able to accommodate visa sponsorships.
Salary : $200,000 - $250,000
