Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized professional to join our customs brokerage team. This role is the backbone of our import operations, responsible for preparing U.S. Customs entries and ensuring regulatory compliance. While we will provide industry-specific training to the right candidate, we require a professional with strong administrative experience, sharp mathematical skills, and a high degree of accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Entry Preparation: Prepare and submit U.S. Customs entries (including RLF and FDA-related filings) and process Fish & Wildlife (FWS) entries.
- Agency Coordination: Submit electronic and physical documentation to government agencies including FDA, FWS, USDA, NOAA, and Customs.
- Export/Import Logistics: Handle AES filings through the ACE Portal and classify shipments using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Technical Systems: Utilize the Automated Broker Interface (ABI) system for daily data entry and filing.
- Compliance & Audits: Maintain organized physical and digital files; present records for audits and distribute required documents to importers.
- Billing: Support daily invoicing and basic accounting tasks (not including bookkeeping).
Requirements & Skills
- Professional Experience: Previous office experience is required.
- Technical Proficiency: * Touch typing: Minimum 45 WPM (A typing test will be required).
- Strong math skills: Comfort with unit conversions, basic calculations, and measurement units.
- Education: High school diploma required; college education is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to learn/retain complex industry regulations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for interacting with customers, colleagues, and government agencies.
Preferred (But Not Required):
- Prior experience in Customs Brokerage or Freight/Cargo.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills.
