Position Summary: The New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) is dedicated to providing NYC’s students with access to healthy food choices with the highest nutritional standards. OFNS has a critical impact on the overall education of students as we serve meals daily throughout the 5 boroughs of New York City. With over 8,000 employees and an approximately $550 million budget, the organization has a significant influence on the national school food industry and the eating habits of future generations.
The Operations Associate will perform responsible work in support of community programs within OFNS. The incumbent will perform necessary and important services to facilitate community development programs within the Office of Food and Nutrition Services. Performs related work.
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer, OFNS
Direct Reports: N/A
Key Relationships: Relationships will be fostered with the OFNS, with interested stakeholders regarding Mayoral Initiatives in the NYCPS and in other NYC agencies.

$44,432 (New Hire Rate)
$51,094 - $56,203 (Incumbent - 2 years of full-time continuous City service)

Responsibilities
- Provides community services related to OFNS’s programs and initiatives, including supporting the budget operations and administration of feeding 860,000 students, meal participation and improvement projects, including outreach to community-based organizations for services rendered and requested.
- Facilitates the coordination and payment of functions among community organizations and vendors leading toward successful rollouts of community-based programs to benefit NYC residents at large.
- Supports records maintenance and updating of databases; prepares and manages in/outbound communication; maintains documents for consolidation.
- Reviews invoices, meal claims, and other relevant OFNS reports to ensure accuracy of information and follows up on any identified issue.
- Collaborates with staff and management regarding pertinent initiatives to ensure successful outcomes; establishes solid working relationships with interested stakeholders for both long and short term results.
- Engages with schools and/or organizations that participate in the food program to ensure relevant information is disseminated.
- Supports the production of surveys to assess existing programs and plans related to the forecast of food services for the public at large and other factors of community and organizational importance.
Minimum
- High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
- Excellent written, spoken and presentation skills.
- Excellent and effective data management, project planning, and communication skills.
- Highly motivated and self-directed, with a history of success.
