Job Overview
Nyack Neighborhood Veterinary is a new privately-owned veterinary practice located on Main Street in Downtown Nyack. We are a community-focused practice that combines modern veterinary medicine with personal attention. Here, we take the time to listen to client concerns, answer questions, and create individualized care plans for the patient's specific needs.
The purpose of this position is to primarily serve as a receptionist at Nyack Neighborhood Veterinary to perform record keeping duties, to perform clerical duties related to patient care and treatment, and to support the health care team. The position may occasionally require assisting with exams, diagnostics, and treatments. Priority will be given to candidates with a background in veterinary medicine.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar efficiently.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure that all information is up-to-date.
- Process payments and handle billing inquiries with professionalism.
- Assist veterinary staff with patient intake and discharge procedures.
- Assist veterinary staff with holding of animals for exams, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Provide basic information on animal care, medications, and treatment plans to clients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and assistants to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- Experience as a Veterinary Receptionist is preferred.
- Experience in handling dogs and cats safely and compassionately is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members and pet owners in person, over the phone, and in written communications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows navigation and file management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Saturday availability is required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
