Duties

  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, edging, pruning, and trimming to ensure pristine appearance
  • Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for planting, trimming, and general upkeep
  • Install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems to promote healthy plant growth and water conservation
  • Conduct lawn care activities such as aeration, fertilization, overseeding, and weed control
  • Assist with gardening tasks including planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and seasonal displays
  • Maintain the health of landscapes through pest management, soil conditioning, and mulching
  • Use landscaping equipment responsibly to support ongoing maintenance projects and new installations

Key Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance & Safety

  • Perform routine minor repairs and maintenance (e.g., basic plumbing, light electrical issues, fixtures, doors, and general upkeep).
  • Conduct regular walks of the property perimeter to ensure the safety and security of the residence.
  • Identify potential hazards or maintenance concerns and report or escalate issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert regarding the building’s condition, systems, and ongoing maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment consistent with program standards.

Vehicles & Grounds

  • Clean and maintain program vehicles to ensure they are presentable and safe for use.
  • Assist with basic groundskeeping as needed (e.g., trash removal, light outdoor upkeep).

Resident Engagement & Life Skills Support

  • Encourage and support residents in learning basic life and maintenance skills when appropriate (e.g., cleaning, simple repairs, care for shared spaces).
  • Model professionalism, responsibility, and respect when interacting with residents.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries while fostering a positive and supportive environment.

Communication & Documentation

  • Highschool diploma
  • Communicate effectively with program staff and management regarding maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Document completed work and reported issues as required.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and common repairs.
  • Ability to recognize when an issue requires escalation to licensed professionals or management.
  • Comfortable working in a residential setting with youth ages 16–21.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform hands-on repair tasks for extended periods.

Work Environment

This position works within a transitional residential setting focused on supporting young people as they build skills for independent living. Flexibility, professionalism, and a youth-centered mindset are essential.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 17 per week

Work Location: In person
