What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Supervisor position at NWL, Inc.?
Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in shipping and receiving of products, components, and/or replacement parts and in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment.
Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Plans work schedules, assigns duties, and evaluates work for accuracy and conformance to policies.
Works with management to establish and modify department operational methods and procedures.
Reads and understands a pick list, packing slip, bill of lading and other applicable manufacturing documentation to determine what functions need to be performed and the appropriate process to be used.
Understands how to obtain and read a Material Safety Data Sheet.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and understand manufacturing documents.
Regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, color vision and depth perception.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and perform other basic high school math functions. Ability to apply concepts to practical situations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
Understanding of the materials system and is able to correctly obtain the materials identified in the work order bill of material and routinely follows cell materials bin/tag system.
