Machinists Wanted!

  • MULTIPLE SHIFTS AVAILABLE!**


OBJECTIVE: To mill, drill, bore, or ream parts from extrusions, bar stock, forging, plate, and assemblies that meet or exceed the specifications of our customers by means of CNC programs, conventional machines, and hand tools.

SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS AND AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, bending, and stretching
  • Lifting up to 50 lb. without assistance and over 50 lb. with assistance
  • Constant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dust
  • Constant repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms


Major Activities Performed and Equipment/Tools Used by All Job Levels

  • 3, 4, and 5-axis machines with a variety of controls
  • Forklifts
  • Hoists & Overhead Cranes
  • Precision Measuring Equipment
  • Burr tools such as Orbital sander, Angle Grinder, Cut-off wheel, and burr knife


Typical Job Requirements

  • Become familiar and obtain knowledge of blueprints, mylars, Engineering Orders (E.O.), Statistical Process
  • Controls (SPCs) and Planning Change Requests (PCR)
  • Follow instructions from planning, setup sheets, work instructions, shop charts, and verbal instructions
  • Become familiar with at least one machine or machine control, and the parts produced on that machine
  • Control CNC Programs at the machine following all procedures/protocols
  • Set-up, with full to moderate assistance, the operations required to produce a quality part
  • Maintain quality standards, focusing on learning how to reduce the number of defects due to workmanship
  • Achieve the basic working knowledge of the various precision measuring tools used within the department
  • Understand what to check and when to use the various precision measuring instruments to ensure a quality part is being produced
  • Ensure all company-owned precision measuring equipment is in calibration per the due date
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment per the checklist at the machine
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices to promote a safe, well-organized work area
  • Comply with all PPE requirements, including but not limited to: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, earplugs, hard hats, face shields, and proper hand protection
  • Proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste and chemicals, as defined by the supervisor/lead person, as well as how to find and use the Safety Data Sheets
  • Obtain a basic knowledge of shop math and how to apply it (SAE and Metric dimensioning)
  • Achieve basic knowledge of the different types of tools and tool holders, as well as our tool setting procedures
  • Demonstrate good communication with your trainer and co-workers, and use time wisely
  • Work overtime as required to meet customer's schedules
  • Learn and adhere to company policies and procedures defined in the company handbook


Education & Experience

  • High School or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude and a good work ethic are preferred
  • Requires no previous experience


Level II:

Typical Job Requirements

  • Retain and perform all of Level I typical job requirements with minimal assistance based on area, and degree of difficulty
  • Capable of setting up and performing the requirements of new or difficult product families with moderate to minimal assistance
  • Demonstrate good communication skills with supervisor/lead person, co-workers, and support departments
  • Show and maintain value-added time management skills
  • Achieve and maintain quality throughout the entire production process by verifying customer requirements using precision measuring equipment
  • Maintain a high standard of quality by meeting or exceeding the expectations of scrap parts due to workmanship
  • Basic shop math skills and application
  • Become proficient on one machine or machine control with minimal assistance required to produce parts on the machines. Must also have a working knowledge of at least two other machines or machine controls
  • Capable of training new employees on Level I tasks
  • Ability to work with the following departments: tooling, quality, engineering, scheduling, and other departments as necessary
  • Be aware of upcoming part numbers to evaluate if problems could arise. Maintain your machine tie-in to document any problems encountered during the production run and communicate these issues to Lead/Next Operator/Person/Supervisor/Engineering/Programming
  • Evaluate methods to move the maximum amount of the internal setup time to external setup time, and to decrease production times where possible, with the approval of your supervisor or lead.
  • Troubleshoot quality problems
  • Maintains at or above expectations on reviews and has no open reprimands
  • Proficient at documenting Planning Change Requests, Program Prove-out sheets and RCCA documents
  • Maintains the shop average efficiencies


Education & Experience

  • High School or equivalent
  • Typically, five years’ experience
  • Completion of any assigned training (Blueprint, math, SPC, etc.)


Level III:

Typical Job Requirements

  • Retain and perform all of Level II typical job requirements with minimal assistance based on the area and degree of difficulty
  • Capable of training entry-level and Level I to Level II operators
  • Proficient at three or more machines or machine controls and can move around the department as needed to run the more complicated work
  • Lead or assist new projects
  • Capable of running FAI/Tool proof jobs with minimal assistance
  • Capable of setting up and performing all the requirements of new or difficult product families with minimal assistance
  • Ability to work closely with the following departments to maintain shop production: tooling, quality, engineering, scheduling, and other departments
  • Ability to assist CNC programmers as required to optimize programs or to build needed items to improve quality or productivity. Tool number, H number, offsets, etc.
  • Demonstrate basic leadperson (leadership) skills, i.e., Fill in as lead person when required
  • Demonstrate good work ethics and lead by example
  • Evaluate setup and run documents as well as our processes, and make changes as required to improve quality or productivity with the approval of the lead and/or supervisor
  • Maintain at or above average shop efficiencies
  • Proficient at documenting Planning Change Requests, Program Prove-out sheets, RCCA documents, and DRATS
  • Be able to plan next setup(s) and ensure that the following are up-to-date and available: setup book, fixtures, cutters, and tooling, etc.


Education & Experience

  • High School or equivalent
  • Typically, a minimum of five to ten years of experience
