NWECP is a Specialty Eye Care Clinic with multiple locations around the Portland, Oregon area and one in Vancouver, Washington. We focus on the neuro-visual system and syntonic therapy, along with vision therapy, dry eye treatment, ocular diseases, myopia management, infantSEE, specialty contact lenses, and more.
The Role
Medical Billing & AR Specialist to support our team through precise billing and financial operations. This is a great opportunity for someone detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in both medical and vision billing to make an immediate impact in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage insurance claims for both medical and routine vision services across Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers, MVA, and WC.
- Ensure accurate medical coding and billing in compliance with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS standards.
- Interpret and reconcile insurance payments, EOBs, ERAs, adjustments, and denial codes.
- Identify misprocessed or underpaid claims and take corrective actions.
- Post payments (manual and electronic) to patient accounts, monitor remittance files, and resolve posting errors.
- Respond to billing inquiries from patients and coordinate with insurance providers as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies and billing regulations.
- Utilize EHR/EMR systems (CrystalPM preferred), clearinghouses, and payer portals to streamline workflows.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support the overall financial health of the clinic.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Comfortable/confident in working patient aging reports and collections
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical and vision billing, coding, and insurance processing.
- Familiarity with neuro-optometry or specialty care billing preferred.
- Proficiency with practice management systems and EHR software (especially CrystalPM).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for payment reconciliation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinic setting.
