What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Fleet Mechanic position at NW Bark Blowing?
We are a growing commercial landscape and trucking company seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic/Equipment Maintenance Manager to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel trucks, box vans, hydraulic bark blowers, and landscape equipment.
This is a hands-on position for someone who understands diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment- and takes pride in keeping a fleet running efficiently and safely.

Our fleet is the backbone of our operation. We are looking for someone who will take ownership of it.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines (light and medium duty trucks)
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems (hoses, pumps, valves, fittings)
- Perform preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles and equipment
- Manage and maintain service schedules and maintenance logs
- Inspect equipment for safety and compliance
- Perform brake work, suspension repairs, and electrical troubleshooting
- Coordinate parts ordering and vendor relationships
- Reduce downtime and proactively prevent breakdowns
- Operate hydraulic equipment for testing and diagnostics (required)
Qualifications:
- 3 years experience working on diesel trucks and/or heavy equipment
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems (REQUIRED)
- Ability to diagnose electrical and mechanical issues
- Experience managing preventative maintenance programs preferred
- Valid drivers license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors/in shop environment
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
Preferred Experience:
- Commercial fleet maintenance
- DOT inspections and compliance
- Welding and fabrication
- Experience with bark blower or hydraulic conveyor systems (highly preferred)
