The MDVM Role
As the Managing Veterinarian, you will combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, working closely with the Hospital Manager and NVA support teams to drive medical excellence, staff development, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.
Clinical Leadership
- Oversee and guide medical and surgical cases
- Mentor associate veterinarians and technical staff
- Maintain and establish medical protocols and standards
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Partner on daily operations, staff training, and scheduling
- Lead recruiting, hiring, and performance evaluations
- Foster a positive, collaborative team culture
- Implement hospital-specific client compliance initiatives
- Co-manage budget, capital improvements, and expense controls
- Analyze performance metrics and drive growth opportunities
- Support marketing, client service, and community initiatives
Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an accredited university
- Licensed (or eligible) to practice in New York
- 3 years of clinical experience; leadership or mentorship experience preferred
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- Collaborative mindset with a passion for developing people and processes
