The job of Café Manager - Central Kitchen is done for the purpose/s of overseeing the cooking and preparing of food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements; verifying quantities and specifications of orders; maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition; monitoring equipment and supply requirements; and assisting assigned food services personnel in food preparation.
This job reports to the Director of Nutrition Services.
Essential Functions:
- Attends meetings
- Communicates with administrators, staff, parents, students and others
- Confers with Field Supervisor regarding Child Nutrition Services needs, condition and menu changes
- Data entry of information (e.g. free/reduced meal status, student accounts, etc.) in the data system
- Directs the transport and delivery of hot and cold foods, snacks, etc., to satellite locations
- Inspects and inventories food items and/or supplies
- Maintains student charges, at a minimum, identifies students exceeding the charged allowance limits, and alerts office staff of alternate meals served to students
- Manages food services operations at an assigned school site
- Monitors equipment operations and functions, and reports malfunctions
- Monitors and participates in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverage items
- Opens Child Nutrition Services facilities (e.g. opening gates, doors, turning on equipment, lights, disarming alarms, etc.)
- Oversees the processing of student accounts and recognizes reimbursable meals for eligibility to participate in the National School Lunch program
- Prepares documentation (e.g. production sheets, daily reports, inventory logs, equipment order forms, etc.)
- Procures food items, equipment and supplies from warehouse and/or outside vendors
- Reconciles transactions (e.g. meal counts, monies collected, etc.)
- Supervises daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing, sterilization of preparation surfaces
- Trains and oversees assigned personnel under the direction of the Director of Nutrition Services (e.g. providing input on transfers, disciplinary actions, goals, evaluations, etc.)
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Requirements: Criminal Justice/Fingerprint Clearance required. Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
This is a 10-month position.
