What are the responsibilities and job description for the Porter position at NUTRITION MANAGEMENT SERVICES?
As a Porter at our CCRC, you are the backbone of our community’s appearance and safety. You will maintain common areas, assist residents with transitions, and ensure a sanitized environment that supports the health and well-being of our senior population. This role is ideal for a proactive individual who enjoys interacting with seniors and takes pride in detailed facility care.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility Upkeep: Clean and sanitize high-traffic common areas including lobbies, hallways, elevators, and dining rooms.
- Floor & Surface Care: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and operate specialized floor scrubbers or buffing equipment.
- Waste Management: Regularly empty trash and recycling containers throughout the facility and transport waste to disposal areas.
- Resident Assistance: Help residents with internal moves, relocating furniture, or transporting luggage as needed.
- Safety & Maintenance: Report major repair needs to management, replace light bulbs, and clear debris or snow from walkways.
- Event Support: Set up and break down furniture and equipment for community meetings, social activities, and special events.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or hospitality roles is preferred (senior living or healthcare experience is a plus).
- Communication: Ability to follow written and oral instructions and interact courteously with residents and staff.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand/walk for 8-hour shifts and lift/move objects weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Personal Traits: Compassionate, reliable, and attentive to detail.
