Position Summary: The Controls Engineering Co‑Op will support and learn the design, development, testing, and implementation of automated control systems used in manufacturing and production processes. This role offers hands-on experience with industrial automation technologies such as PLC programming, HMI development, and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems. The Co‑Op will work closely with experienced engineers to gain practical knowledge and contribute to ongoing projects that improve efficiency, safety, and quality. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design, programming, and testing of controls systems such as PLCs, HMIs, and other control devices. Support troubleshooting and maintenance of existing automation systems. Participate in system upgrades, modifications, and commissioning activities. Help create and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation. Collect and analyze data to support process improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers. Follow all safety protocols and company policies while working in production environments. Maintain accurate records of work performed and provide regular status updates to supervisors. Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an Engineering Based CTE Program Basic understanding of PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and industrial automation concepts. Familiarity with electrical schematics and instrumentation. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Learning Opportunities: Exposure to real-world industrial automation projects. Hands-on experience with control hardware and software. Mentorship from experienced engineers. Understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies. Work Environment: This position may require time spent both in an office setting and on the manufacturing floor. Appropriate PPE will be provided when working in production areas.
