What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tutoring Director position at Nurturing Wisdom Tutoring?
Chicagoland Tutoring Director
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and personable individual who lives in the Chicagoland area to join our team as a full-time tutoring director. Our directors build long-term relationships with families so that students become lifelong learners, and their parents have a strong support system. In their day-to-day work, directors balance urgency and patience, confidence and humility, independence and collegiality. We want everyone we work with—from families to colleagues—to say, "Wow, I'm so glad I'm working with this team!"
Tutoring directors work with parents and tutors to coordinate 1:1 customized tutoring for students of all ages for test prep, academic subjects, and executive functioning (and sometimes fun, unique requests!). Tutoring directors communicate with parents via phone calls, emails, texts, and Zoom (tutors meet with students in their homes or online).
This is a work-from-home position (and has been since the company was founded in 2005!) with a conscientious and highly collaborative team. We schedule required in-person company meetings five to eight times a year in the Chicagoland area, as well as frequent team calls and Zooms.
Responsibilities include...
- Serving as parents’ first point of contact, immediately impressing them with a caring, confident, professional, and can-do attitude
- Conducting in-depth consultations and regular check-ins with parents to fully grasp each child's educational experience, needs, goals, and timelines
- Explaining to parents how our customized instruction and dedicated team can support their child’s development—not only for immediate needs, but also long-term
- Collaborating with our team of tutors, coaches, graders, and other directors to make strong matches, develop customized tutoring plans, celebrate progress, as well as troubleshoot and course-correct
- Helping parents understand and make informed decisions about the educational issues they’re working through
- Growing revenue by providing excellent customer service, persistently following up with leads, proactively reaching out to former clients, and making additional tutoring recommendations that align with family needs
- Recognizing trends, reflecting on data, and taking initiative to help the business grow
- Completing administrative duties like maintaining customer files, tracking deadlines, and following various detailed processes
- Participating in training new employees
Our new director must live in the Chicagoland area and have…
- A bachelor’s degree
- At least three years’ professional work experience (an education background or other professional work with parents is preferred)
- Outstanding communication, organization, time-management, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work full-time from home—we don’t have a brick and mortar office!
- Ability to maintain consistent hours from week to week. We offer two work-schedule options:
- Full days Monday-Friday
OR
- Full days Monday-Thursday, half a day Friday, and half a day Sunday afternoon or evening
- Reliable transportation to travel to meetings at various Chicagoland locations multiple times a month
We offer these benefits...
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with employer match
- Company holidays, paid time off, and paid sick and safe leave
- Maternity and paternity leave
The annual salary range for this position is $53,000-$55,000
