Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Nurse Manager supports the Director of Nursing Services in overseeing and evaluating nursing operations to ensure high-quality resident care and compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations. This role is pivotal in coordinating clinical services, supervising nursing staff, and fostering strong relationships with residents, families, and healthcare partners.
Responsibilities:
- Support and oversee daily nursing operations to ensure high-quality resident care and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Review and authorize resident admissions, evaluating clinical suitability and care requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, department leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and maintain individualized care plans.
- Coordinate with external partners—including pharmacies, hospice providers, and rehabilitation services—to deliver comprehensive resident care.
- Communicate directly with residents and families to resolve concerns, enhance satisfaction, and promote trust.
- Facilitate Health Maintenance and Quality Review meetings, ensuring timely updates to care plans and documentation.
- Monitor medication administration records, treatment logs, and nursing notes for accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
- Assist in recruiting, mentoring, and evaluating nursing staff; encourage professional development and retention.
- Help manage departmental budgets, staffing schedules, and supply inventories to meet operational and care objectives.
- Uphold compliance with state, federal, and local healthcare regulations while safeguarding resident confidentiality.
- Represent the nursing department in community and professional forums, fostering partnerships and referral networks

Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - Virginia or Compact (required).
- 3 - 5 years of nursing leadership experience in senior living, assisted living, or skilled nursing.
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations governing elder care.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn EMR and medication management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze budgets, staffing metrics, and quality outcomes.
