We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Accounting Controller to manage our financial operations, ensure accurate billing and invoicing, and provide crucial financial insights to support our growing business.
Position Summary
This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts receivable and payable, and supporting the Chief Administrative Officer with financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple financial processes while collaborating effectively with field teams and leadership in our small-business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Billing & Invoicing Management
- Review and verify all billing-related information including project costs, labor hours, materials used, and subcontractor invoices
- Generate accurate and timely invoices for construction projects based on contracts, change orders, field work tickets, and other relevant documentation
- Generate and send invoices to clients, track outstanding invoices, and manage payment collections, ensuring timely payments
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries related to invoices, payments, and billing procedures
Financial Operations
- Match and verify the accuracy of financial transactions between different records, such as bank statements and general ledger
- Process vendor invoices and maintain vendor records
- Manage daily cash flow and consult with CAO and others as appropriate to make timely business decisions related to effective management of cash flow
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Review and analyze financial statements like balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to ensure accuracy of information and provide Officer team with summary assessment of financial health
- Provide weekly/monthly reports as directed by leadership team for review of field crew performance
- Work closely with investor accounting support team to review, reconcile and correct any errors in data, journal entries, and other accounting information to maintain accurate and compliant records and statements
Payroll & Tax Support
- Support payroll functions for accuracy in calculating employee pay, deductions, and generating payroll reports
- Navigate payroll software to review and identify any issues for reconciliation
- Support with gathering information and preparing tax returns with CPA firm
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to gather necessary data and resolve any discrepancies or billing issues
- Stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and the latest technology related to construction billing, accounting, reporting and make recommendations for process improvements
- Assist with other administrative tasks, accounting and financial projects as assigned by the CAO
Qualifications
- Experience in accounting and billing functions
- Strong understanding of financial transactions, invoicing, and accounts receivable/payable
- Proficient in accounting software, payroll software, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve discrepancies
- Strong communication skills for addressing client inquiries
- Knowledge of construction billing and accounting practices is beneficial
Work Environment
- Small, close-knit office with regular interaction with field teams and leadership
- Standard Monday–Friday hours, with occasional flexibility based on company needs

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
