Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily activities and personal care. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status or behavior
- Support medication administration following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning tailored to individual dietary needs
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to ensure safe patient transfers and mobility
- Document patient progress accurately in care records and communicate effectively with healthcare teams about any concerns or observations
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for clients with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other disabilities
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in home & community care settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Experience with Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities enhances your candidacy
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary and operate patient transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed care plans accurately
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support individuals with diverse needs including autism or disabilities
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed
