Position Summary: Experienced Concrete Finisher needed for a full‑time prevailing‑wage project. Responsible for layout, forming, placing, finishing and forming of concrete elements including footings and bollards. Must perform rebar cutting/bending, excavation for footings, compaction/tamping, and ensure work meets plans, codes and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read plans and work from layout to set forms for footings, bollards and other concrete elements.
- Build, set, brace and strip wood/metal forms; ensure form alignment, dimensions and elevations are accurate.
- Bend, cut and place rebar per drawings and tie rebar securely; install rebar chairs and spacers as required.
- Excavate and prepare footing trenches and holes to specified depths and dimensions.
- Place, consolidate and finish concrete surfaces: screeding, bullfloating, troweling, edging, jointing and broom finishes as required.
- Tamp and compact footing base (mechanical or hand tamping) and ensure proper subgrade preparation and compaction.
- Operate hand and small power tools safely (saws, cutters, compactors, vibrators, buggies, etc.).
- Coordinate pour sequence with crew, pump operators and inspectors; assist with concrete placement and finishing during pours.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, site housekeeping, and proper use of PPE.
- Report defects, discrepancies or material shortages to foreman/superintendent.
- Maintain tools, equipment and forms in good condition.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a concrete finisher or form carpenter on commercial/municipal projects.
- Proficient with forming, rebar work (cutting, bending, tying), excavation for footings, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to read basic construction drawings and follow layout/staking information.
- Familiarity with prevailing wage projects, site inspection requirements and documentation preferred.
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, stand, kneel and work in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Certifications (OSHA 10/30, CPR/First Aid) and union card (if applicable) are a plus.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
- Full‑time schedule; hours and shifts per project needs.
- Compensation: prevailing wage per project (wage rate and fringe benefits in accordance with applicable prevailing wage determinations and contract requirements). Exact rate dependent on trade classification, locality and contract — specified in project wage schedule.
