The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Performs complex Journey-level training work. Work involves coordinating, organizing, conducting, and assessing educational and training programs. Trains staff, managers, and supervisors. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Maintains Center Training records.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in training all levels of Staff, Managers, and Directors. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human resources, organizational development, education, or a related field plus 3 years professional experience in education, training or closely related field that includes experience as a trainer in a classroom setting. Experience and education may be substituted for year-to-year basis for a maximum of four years. Responsible for Relias, CPR/First Aid (Instructor-American Heart Association or American Red Cross 2 month after hire), PMAB (certified trainer 6 months after hire), Defensive Driving (Instructor/Certified Trainer 6 months after hire), and Safety Training. Must be able to conduct New Employee Training as needed. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and Vehicle Liability Insurance in the state of Texas at all times.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of training procedures and techniques, education principles, practice, and techniques; learning management and learning content management systems; group processes, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations; instructional and curriculum design. Skilled in oral and written communication, instructing others, and proficient in the use of computers and applicable software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other computer programs. Must be able to read and interpret contracts. Must be able to develop training courses based on the needs of the Center and the departments. Ability to formulate learning objectives, to develop training objectives, to assess the effectiveness of training, to assess training needs, to train others and to communicate effectively internally (staff). In the course of being employed, understands, and implements trauma-informed care practices.
