Caster Technician

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Caster Technician. The Caster Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing the casting machine to receive molten steel, operating the ladle slide-gate to control the flow of steel from the ladle into the caster tundish, making tundish additions and taking samples and temperature readings out of tundish, performing ladle shroud exchanges, performing job duties associated with the tundish to mold steel transfer, maintaining proper inventory levels of operating supplies, monitoring all caster functions, using overhead cranes to move caster equipment and supplies to the caster deck, assisting in the changing of molds and segments, and assisting in tundish repair and mold & segment areas.

• This position will be required to work a rotating shift including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

This greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year of direct melting or casting experience
• Minimum of one year of sheet mill or bar mill experience
