Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Safety Paramedic & EMT Trainer is to provide leadership and support to the safety and health functions across the division. This person will conduct monthly in-service training for our onsite EMTs and First Repsoneders and ensure compliance for our onsite industrial ambulance services. The role of the Safety Paramedic & EMT Trainer is to provide leadership and support to the safety and health functions across the division. This person will conduct monthly in-service training for our onsite EMTs and First Repsoneders and ensure compliance for our onsite industrial ambulance services. The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Growing long term sustainable relationships to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, and safety systems.
- Develop, communicate, and implement strategies and plans to support Nucor’s challenge of “becoming the world’s safest steel company”
- Interpret and apply regulatory consensus standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
- Build and facilitate effective safety and health processes, management systems, and training that drives hazard recognition and prevention
- Conduct safety visits, audits, and observations
- Oversee and coordinate training and support for the Emergency Response Team
- Perform routine and non-routine administrative tasks. This includes but is not limited to inspections, record keeping and various onsite testing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- National Registered EMT – Paramedic Level
- Safety related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Knowledge and experience in worker’s compensation
- Prior Safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and experience with VPP
