Overview
We are seeking a Project Engineer eager to grow a career in heavy civil construction by taking on responsibilities both in the field and the office. This position offers a hands‑on opportunity to keep projects on track through cost monitoring, documentation management, production tracking, and proactive problem‑solving with site teams to avoid delays or quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist project managers with controls, reporting, and cost tracking across ongoing civil works.
- Support field supervision to ensure safety, schedule compliance, and quality standards.
- Oversee RFIs, submittals, and inspection coordination to eliminate execution barriers.
- Record daily installed quantities for billing and inspection purposes, and contribute to owner invoicing.
- Handle purchase orders, delivery coordination, and quantity takeoffs to keep crews supplied.
- Prepare short‑term schedules, contribute to monthly CPM updates, and maintain SWPPP logs and compliance records.
Qualifications
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Prior exposure to heavy civil projects as an intern or Project Engineer.
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities, maintain precise documentation, and communicate effectively with teams.
- Willingness to work onsite, travel between projects, and take ownership of details that drive project success.
Bonus experience: familiarity with HCSS HeavyJob, prior work on bridges, highways, landfills, or dams, and knowledge of SWPPP and compliance standards.
