Description
Sets up and operates turret punch press including utilizing the tooling library to maximize the production performance of the machinery.
- Downloads programs and follows set-up procedures for punching metallic or nonmetallic sheets.
- Coordinates with Engineering to make temporary or permanent changes to programs to enhance the production performance and/or quality of the part.
- Observes machine while operating to monitor accurate punching of parts and equipment performance.
- Uses precision measuring tools including Virtek/Planar inspection scanner to ensure part meets specifications.
- Inspects and measures parts, as required, to maintain quality records.
- Loads and/or unloads material sheets, skeletons, or parts, as required.
- Deburrs parts or performs other secondary operations during machine cycle, when needed.
- Maintains accurate counts of parts; attaches labels or tags to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantity and shop order information.
- Utilizes the data collection system to accurately record production activities including time spent, quantity produced and any rejected parts.
- Communicates with supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate job activities.
- Follows all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required.
- Performs all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.
- Ensures on a daily basis that the work area is clean and orderly including machine, tooling and workstation.
- (May) Maintain sharpness of tooling/punches using grinding equipment.
- (May) Establish and maintain the tooling library to ensure maximum production performance.
Requirements
· Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing related education or work experience operating and setting up turret punch presses
· Basic print reading and shop mathematic skills
· Ability to use a micrometer and caliper for inspection
Preferred Qualification:
· Bilingual (English/Spanish)
· Experience working with Prima Power and Trumpf equipment
Physical Requirements:
· Exert 50 pounds of force occasionally and 25 pounds of force frequently.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
· Ability to communicate with others and accommodation as required to listen to equipment and monitor paging system.
· Accommodation as required for reading documents, prints, computer screens, and quality instruments.
Working Conditions:
Typical metal manufacturing environment with exposure to powder coat paint facility. Active work that primarily involves walking, standing, bending and lifting.
