General Summary: Nonexempt, clerical position responsible for greeting patients in a courteous and professional manner while checking them in. Receiving incoming telephone calls in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. Should also greet/assist visitors in the same manner as patients.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Greet patients checking in with a professional, caring, and respectful manner.

2. Promptly and professionally answers telephone calls. Routes calls appropriately, offering voice mail, paging, or redirection of calls as needed.

3. Greets visitors and assists them as appropriate. Direct visitors to appropriate waiting areas. Screen solicitors appropriately and courteously for relevance to organization needs.

4. Respond to and direct patients for conclusions of inquiries and/or concerns in an efficient manner.

5. Check for appropriate insurance coverage and benefits.

6. Explains financial requirements to the patients or responsible parties and collects copays as required.

7. Other duties as assigned.

8. Promptly and politely acknowledge the presence of others and smile when serving a patient or visitor.

9. Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly. 10. Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. 11. Speaking — Talking to others to convey information effectively.

12. It is an essential function of this job to be kind, respectful and thoughtful to others while you are performing the duties that make up this job.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One year of experience in customer service or reception, preferably in a health care environment.
