Position Summary:
Responsible for the development, implementation, and improvement of engineering processes related to the assembly of constant velocity joint (CVJs). Works closely with all related departments to support company objectives within a team based, hands on environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports, develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods for assembly operations.
- Tests and evaluates equipment, instruments and components to eliminate failures and increase productivity and quality.
- Develops methods for maintaining or increasing production levels in the assembly process while improving safety, production costs, yields, and quality.
- Develops program edits, equipment adjustments, and tooling improvements to company objectives.
- Develops and designs tooling for the assembly of CVJs through reverse engineering of existing tooling and new tooling design.
- Troubleshoots process problems and identifies solutions that reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
- Plans and performs plant trials to determine performance capabilities.
- Determines test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needs to implement engineering changes.
- Troubleshoots process problems and identifies solutions related to assembly programming or tooling that reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
- Participates in and/or leads cost reduction activities.
- Works closely with members of Manufacturing and Quality to support company targets for cost, quality, and delivery.
- Uses statistical methods to evaluate process performance vs. specification.
- Plans and facilitates installs and performs initial start-up of equipment.
- Serves as technical leader of Engineering team comprised of Engineering Technician(s) and Japanese Support Engineer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of experience as an engineer in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Good hands on abilities (help, assist and perform).
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, hydraulic diagrams and machine blueprints.
- Experience with CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks) a plus.
- Experience with trouble shooting and programming robots, PLC, servo controllers and VFD’s a plus.
- Experience with FANUC robot, Mitsubishi PLC a plus.
- Experience with communication between machine controls and server database a plus.
- Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office, experience with Microsoft Project a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team oriented.
- Ability to work well cross-functionally and communicate with internal and external parties.
- Strong problem solving skills, including ability to collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and recommend effective corrective action.
- Ability to organize, plan, allocate resources and prioritize to meet multiple overlapping and competing deadlines and strict timelines.

- Demonstrated project management and leadership abilities.
- Strong organizational skills (document control/drawing control).
- Budget and financial experience.
- Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or in a multi-cultural environment a plus.
