IT Desktop Support - Equipment Disposal Project for 2 months

Join us for an exciting two-month project as an IT Desktop Support Specialist focused on equipment disposal! Selected candidates have to work in NY (Midtown) and NJ (Metropark) facilities.

The locations are 1 hr apart and candidates have to be local to both locations.

• Assist with the secure disposal of outdated or decommissioned computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals
• Provide technical support to users during the equipment removal process, troubleshooting software and hardware issues promptly
• Manage and document asset records using tools like SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), ServiceNow, or BMC Remedy to track disposal activities
• Support network administration tasks related to the project, including verifying connectivity via LAN, VPN, and firewall configurations
• Conduct analysis of hardware components to ensure proper decommissioning procedures are followed in compliance with security policies
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate equipment pickup, transportation, and recycling processes while maintaining data security standards
• Assist in updating documentation related to IT infrastructure components such as Active Directory, GPO (Group Policy Objects), DNS settings, and network configurations

• Proven experience in technical support roles with a focus on desktop support and hardware management
• Strong knowledge of operating systems including Windows (Windows Server), macOS, and Linux environments
• Familiarity with software troubleshooting techniques across various platforms and devices
• Experience working with IT infrastructure components such as TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls (e.g., Meraki), and LAN/WAN networks
• Proficiency with computer management tools like SCCM, Active Directory, GPOs, and BMC Remedy or similar ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
• Ability to analyze hardware and software issues quickly and effectively while maintaining attention to detail
• Knowledge of mobile device management and security protocols related to equipment disposal processes
